MCC NOLA Honors Former WPSO Detective

New Orleans, La- Thursday, September 7, 2023

Every year, the Metropolitan Crime Commission hosts its Excellence in Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon. The luncheon’s main purpose is to recognize and honor the outstanding accomplishments of federal, state, and local criminal justice professionals that have distinguished both themselves and their respective agency through noteworthy investigations and/or prosecutions over the previous year.

Today, among those selected for this honor was our very own, retired WPSO Detective Demetria Rice, affectionately known around here as Demmie.

Demmie has spent countless hours, diligently working for those labeled as "Special Victims". Even in retirement, she still checks in on those victims that hold a special place in her heart. I'm sure there are others just as deserving for this recognition, but you'd be hard pressed to find another one like Demmie Rice! Eh, maybe I am just biased, but she will forever hold a special place in our hearts as well!
